Tucker Carlson compared Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand to Joe McCarthy on Thursday night, saying that she had overstepped when she suggested that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was guilty solely because he has not yet called for another FBI investigation into himself. “‘I believe her because she’s telling the truth,’ or put another way — it’s true because it is. Now in logic class, they call this circular reasoning, which is not reasoning at all,” he said. “Instead it’s simply demanding you believe something because someone else is asserting it. Children talk this way. You think a U.S. senator would be embarrassed to. But it’s the second part of Gillibrand’s statement you ought pay attention to because it’s scary.” (Gowdy Questions Why Kavanaugh Is Guilty Until Proven Innocent) “Kavanaugh hasn’t called yet for another FBI investigation to himself, therefore Senator Gillibrand says he did it. Is that the reaction of a innocent person, she thunders? It is not. Well, not since the McCarthy era almost 70 years ago have lawmakers talked like this in the country,” Carlson continued. “Unless you call for an FBI investigation of yourself you are guilty of a crime. Joe McCarthy himself never said anything like that, it was too reckless even for him.” Despite Gillibrand’s claim, Kavanaugh has said that he is ready to testify in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday. At this moment it’s still unclear whether or not his accuser will testify as well. “It can’t possibly be just the Democrats,” Salam said, responded to Carlson’s question about how we got to this point. “It’s also Republicans who decided that this was useful for their purposes. It was Republicans who were more interested in the interests of employers than of workers. You’ve got Democrats and Republicans who feel this way, both of whom worked together to see to it that you do not have a more worker friendly immigration and economic policy across the board. And that has been huge dereliction on the part of America’s elites.” Carlson expressed the hope that Salam’s new book, Melting Pot or Civil War? A Son of Immigrants Makes The Case Against Open Borders, would start a conversation, not about race, “but about economic effects of immigration on the country.” “So what we have right now is a situation where we are in a combustible state where people are trying to turn one kind of American against another,” responded Salam. “You have people saying, ‘These older people in middle America, they just don’t get it.’ And others saying, ‘We need to replace them essentially with an entirely new people. They need to be more enlightened – they need to get with the program or get hell out.’” “I find it pretty terrifying that we’ve gotten to the point where elites have almost seceded from the country that has actually enabled them to build their wealth and power,” Salam added. “Like the corporations they serve, they are multinational,” said Carlson. Salam noted that is is actually often the “second generation children of immigrants” and “working class” people who “actually suffer” from their actions. “The same government, the same elite that is not looking out for the interests of older stock Americans, later generation Americans, it’s also saying these second generation Americans who maybe, they’re having a tough time,” said Salam. “‘Oh, we’ll just replace you with a new round.’ It’s this kind of incredible attitude.” Read the full article here: https://dailycaller.com/2018/09/24/tucker-carlson-reihan-salaam-illegal-immigration/

If you think the debate over Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court feels like an ominous turning point for the nation, you’re not alone. We have certainly had bitter and partisan debates over judicial nominations before. There was Robert Bork in ’87, Clarence Thomas, four years later many others. Even further back, in 1936, President Franklin Roosevelt tried to take over the entire judicial branch of government by packing the court with extra Democrats so he could impose his program on Congress by force. Thankfully, FDR failed. But never in our lifetimes have sitting members of Congress attacked our justice system as they now are. Lawmakers had never mocked the idea of due process, called for the collective punishment of American citizens or declared that the burden of proof is on the accused. All of that is happening right now in Washington. It’s not just Kavanaugh under assault. Elected officials have announced they no longer believe in our Western understanding of justice. There’s no precedent for that. It’s stunning. “I just want to say to the men in this country, ‘Just shut up and step up. Do the right thing for a change,'” said Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Ha. “Not only do women, like Dr. Ford, who bravely comes forward, need to be heard, but they need to be believed.” Read her words carefully. She is saying all men are guilty, not because they’ve been proven guilty, but because they are men. They are inherently guilty, by their nature. All women must be believed, not because we can show they’re telling the truth, but because they are female. Evidence is suddenly irrelevant. All that matters is gender. All of us are condemned or redeemed at birth and there’s nothing any of us can do to change that. It’s baked in the cake. That’s what she said. Q: Did a recent study in Denmark show that face masks are useless for COVID-19?

A: No. The study found that face masks did not have a large protective effect for wearers — not that masks provide no protection at all or don’t offer benefits to others.
